Muallaf - by Yasmin Ahmad

Muallaf (The Convert)  is a 2008 Malaysian drama film directed by Yasmin Ahmad. This is Yasmin Ahmad's fifth film after Rabun, Sepet, Gubra and Mukhsin and Muallaf is the Yasmin's last film shown in cinema. The films was supposelly shown in Malaysian cinemas on year 2008, but due to some dispute with Malaysia's movies law, it was banned till 2009 (after the Malaysian beloved director passed away) only it was officially released in cinema nationwide. Finally the film is released in DVD. Is out now and available in major video's stores. Here is the cover of the dvd which I picked up a copy yesterday. RM19.90 ONLY!!

It tells a tale of three souls finding solace in religion where two sisters run away from an abusive father and come under the care of a Catholic schoolteacher Brian Goh, from a smalltown. The teacher's is impressed with the two sisters courage and strong will that facing difficulties. But this has forces Brian to face his own traumatizing skeletons in his closet.
