 Back Cover text
Strange Cases of magistrate Pao is an engrossing collection of six of Magistrate Pao's cases. They are  traditional Chinese detective stories in the tradition of the 'Judge Dee' stories if the late Robert van Gulik, who was a friend of author Leon Comber. Through them you are led into the fascinating world of the old China. Imagine yourself sitting in an expectant crowd around a storyteller in a public market, which used to happen, too, in past times in Singapore and Malaysia before the days of television. It is duck, the storyteller is reading from an old book he has in his hand by the light of a flickering hurricane lamp. Now read on.

I just loves stories involving historic figures from old China, their myths, and legends. The book is actually published long time ago, 1964. The author also known for many titles such as Chinese Magic and Superstitions in Malaya, Chinese Temples in Singapore, Malaya's Secret Police 1945-60: The Role of the Special Branch in the Malayan Emergency and Chinese Festivals in Malaysia. His books usually touches about Chinese's cultures, superstitious, legends, and worship places.
