Fo Guang Shan Dong Zen 2014 馬來西亞佛光山東禪寺

Another year has past and Chinese New Year comes again. This is my first year to FGS Dong Zen temple during CNY's eve. Went there for the 新春燒年香 吉祥鐘聲傳十方 roughly translate as burning the first incense in the Spring and to strike the auspicious bell for the Ten Directional Buddhas, hoping 2014 will be a better year :)

Arrived there around 8pm soon after reunion dinner with my bestie in Sunway Pyramid. At first I thought there would be way less people compare to normal days of CNY but I was wrong. The crowd getting massive after 10PM.

Guess it must be the year of Horse (represent rapid and changes) and with conjunction of Visit Malaysia year 2014, this year FGS Dong Zen has came up with lot more beautiful decos and themes.

At the main entrance, there is this cute child-like Buddha welcoming guests with his open arms. The statues are surrounded by children of  different races in Malaysia. Your mood for sure will soothe up due to the theme song they put. A children's song but the lyrics had changed to suit Buddhism.

 The beautiful and cute Buddha

This year additional safari theme deco.

Phrase written by Ven. Master Hsing Yun and made into lantern

I was too mesmerise by the beauty of all the lanterns and deco till I forget to go to the Main Shrine to pay homage to the Buddha :P

A few walks from the main entrance lead to the Main Shrine of FGS Dong Zen. Same like last year, there was this huge tent set up for The Great Buddha  outside the Main Shrine for people to lit candles and put incenses for praying and making wishes.

First glance I thought that the pot are made from rice's sacks but it is really made from clay.

If you went to FGS Dong Zen in 2013 you will remember that these lighting umbrellas are decorated in Lumbini garden. This year it was hung above the Buddha outside the Main Shrine.

The expression of the Guan Yin are beyond description. Compassion looking, serene, elegant, beautiful and so peaceful.

After paying homage to the Buddha in the Main Shrine, went to the exhibhition hall to see whether FGS publications came out with new books or music CD. Just love to read Master Hsing Yun works.

After browsing books, magazines and the arts available in the exhibition hall, went to the Lumbini garden. The walkway has been lay will cement I guess to avoid visitors mess with the muddy place if it rain like last year during CNY. FGS Dong Zen been very considerate on this.

The Buddha protected by the giant serpent last year main theme has been moved to Lumbini garden sitting nicely under the Bodhi tree.

starry starry tunnel

There are so much to explore and it is almost 12am. So I went back to the Main Shrine waiting for the First Incense burning and Striking the Bell ceremony.

Inside the Main Shrine where devotees are waiting in line to offer the First Incense to the Buddha

While waiting to be in the Main Shrine, God of Wealth are here to gives out mandarin oranges

Praying to the Buddha hoping with the blessing of the Buddhas, this will be a great and joyful year ahead. Will definitely upload more pictures into this entry. Stay tuned. Hope you have a great CNY :)

The Journey 一路有你 2014

I love this movie so much. Is been a while after 天天好天 and 大日子, this time director Chiu bring us another simple yet very touching movie, 一路有你. Nice scenery, nice storyline and the best part no lame and ridiculous parts like others CNY movies. No matter you go with your family member or ur friends you will surely enjoy it. Love the part where it emphasize on "time doesn't wait" and" to give in everything because of love".

This is a local movie of a story where a very typical Chinese uncle name Uncle Chuen, who is superbly typical  type of old man. He is so full of his own rights and rules. His daughter was involuntarily sent off to UK by him when she was only 8 years old after her mother passed away. As years goes by, one day after he attended a wedding party by one of his good friend, he made a promise that if his daughter get married, he will held a lavish banquet and to sent invitation cards regardless how far his friends were.

Soon after the wedding party, his daughter (Bee) came back hoping to tell him that she will get marry with a guy from London who is an English (Benji). With his super typical and "want face" he rejected. After much deliberation, he finally agrees to the wedding having both Uncle Chuen and Benji came up with conditions. Soon both of them start on the Journey to hand out invitation cards across the country. During the journey, both of them started to understand each other. Will they made it throughout the journey? Will Benji able to compromise with Uncle Chuen? You definitely need to watch this movie to find out how the ending was.

我爱你, 有福气, pancit, pondan树,kili kulu, saya sudah tua mana boleh, sofaman, and more phrases you'll will keep bragging after you came out from the cinema.

A scene where Bee draw Benji riding with his dad on bike on the windscreen. As the car moves, the drawing is like moving along the electric cable.

Benji and Bee checking the hot air balloon before the take off.

Bee drawing her dad's portrait and Uncle Chuen being teased by his friends for being stiff and constipation-look-alike.

Benji guiding the crew on making the hot air balloon

A noodle where Uncle Chuen made for Bee to celebrate their birthday where fall on the same day base on Chinese calendar.

Here are some clips from the movie:

Trailer

Regardless u had watched the movie or not, I am sure you'll enjoy this behind-the-scenes mv, The Better Half by Ben Andrew

The First Phone Call From Heaven - Mitch Albom

One autumn day, in the small northern town of Coldwater, Michigan, the phones begin ringing. The people calling are all deceased. They talk about heaven. They say they are safe and happy. Each call is greeted differently—some with relief, some with love, some with religious zeal, some with fear.

On that same day, Sully Harding is released from jail for a crime he may not have committed. During his time behind bars, his wife, Giselle, passed away, leaving him a single father filled with heartbreak and regret. He returns to his hometown of Coldwater, hoping to rebuild his life. Instead, he finds a community increasingly gripped by miracle fever. As the mysterious phone calls become more frequent, outsiders begin flocking from all over the world to be part of the blessing, changing the small town indelibly, and turning local citizens into worshiped heroes.

When his own son begins to carry a toy cell phone awaiting word from his mother, Sully has had enough. He sets out to prove that the Coldwater phenomenon is a hoax. But is it? Or could this be the world's greatest miracle? Do the calls give people hope or do they imprison the receivers in a never-ending cycle of grief?

The story follows several Coldwater residents whose lives are irrevocably touched when they are confronted with evidence that heaven exists. This remarkable novel takes us on a journey both of individual healing and society's response to the question of life after life.

Albom's work has never been so moving and unexpected. Readers of The Five People You Meet in Heaven will recognize the warmth and emotion so redolent of Albom's writing, and those who haven't yet enjoyed the power of his storytelling will thrill at the discovery of one of the best-loved writers of our time.

I read an review on this book before it release and just so happened almost a year after my grandfather passed away. Therefore I found this could really related to me. As always, the stories in the end was quite relevant and very moving. In Albom's books, everything is possible.

So I bought this book and read it in just two days. I never read a book in two days. It was well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it as he weaves a wonderful story plus a great concept where receiving phones calls from loved ones that have passed away. This one definitely better than The Timekeeper.

Whenever Mitch release a book, many will said they expect more, his ideas and plot was unrealistic and his works are toward religious thingy. To me a good book or a good read doesn't need to be up to someone's else standard but to deeply touched and connected to one. What I love about Mitch Albom is he always has the ability to really make you stop and think of what is really important in life.

Mitch Albom is one of my favourite authors. Everything he's written I loved to read and collect them. If you like Mitch Albom's previous works, Tuesday With Morrie and The Five People You Meet In Heaven then you will like this book.

Hear what Mitch said about this book:
